Border management assessment new Mauritius Airport


IOM ACBC, IOM Mauritius and the Border Management Assessment team discuss the flow of movement      of passengers designed for the new airport for Mauritius.

During March 2013, the Africa Capacity Building Centre in coordination with IOM Mauritius and three consultants conducted a Border Management (BM) assessment for the government of  Mauritius. The ACBC and the assessment team traveled to Mauritius  and focused the BM assessment on the border management tools and  arrangements currently employed to govern movements into and out of two airports and two seaports.

The two airports that were assessed were the are the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport and the Sir Gaetan Duvall International  Airport on Rodrigues Island and the seaports namely Port Mathurin, Rodrigues island  and Port Louis Seaport, Port Louis. 
The findings of the assessment will be presented to the Government of Mauritius  and will steer future developments within the airport an seaport frameworks toward a more streamline approach to border management issues and  the to enhance the current systems to be in line with international best practices ad standards.
